A few months back, Don K. Preston and William Bell – both prominent Preterists – responded to a claim made by Rivers Of Eden that "all of the promises and covenants spoken of in the Bible were specific to the tribes of Israel." In a Two Guys and a Bible Internet broadcast, Don and William together wove some arguments to counter the claim, which I want to address in this blog and podcast.

That the promises and the covenants were specific to a literal, physical people should be apparent from the most cursory reading of the Inspired Word. It's my belief that Don and William know the score: if the promises and the covenants cannot be applied to all peoples, but only to a remnant of a certain people, then the entire contemporary Christian paradigm changes. Rapture: 2011?

As an adolescent Christian in the early seventies, I had my "Reach Out" pseudo-Bible, and was singing "I Wish We'd All Been Ready" in our local Christian camp with all the other kids. I had no idea that the last-days rapture doctrine was error, because my teachers never told me it was error. It should have been exposed then, but it wasn't. The error through the years has born horrible fruit.

Preface

This has been a long time coming, and I want to make sure readers (and listeners to the podcasts) understand that I generally have a lot of respect and admiration for the Preterist leaders I'm challenging. This isn't a personal thing at all; in fact, if it weren't for good men like Don K. Preston and Tim Martin, I surely would not be doing what I'm doing today. Be it known that Sam Frost, Don Preston, Tim Martin, John Anderson and most of the other Preterists I have known are men I greatly admire and respect. In mainstream Christianity there is a dearth of scholarship, and these men are scholars. To my Preterist friends in the Kingdom: please do not consider what I'm about to say as a personal attack, but a gentle challenge.

Even the weakest minds can see an obvious problem: all the races of mankind may demonstrate racial pride and pass on their heritage to their children but the race of the White man. Oddly, it takes boldness to even bring up this obvious double-mindedness in our culture, which - for all its technology - has little understanding of the history of the White peoples found throughout the world. The Living Dead

However, the Bible teaches that the death that was defeated by Jesus Christ was not physical death. After he exterminated them and plundered their cities throughout Asia, he would erect a giant pyramid built from the skulls of his victims at the gates of their ruined city. Comparatively speaking, what happened to them was far worse in scope and horror than the atrocities of Hitler or Stalin. In 1402, even the biblical church of Smyrna (Revelation 2:8) became a pyramid of skulls.

The AntiChrist

It intrigues a great many professing Christians, as evidenced by the speculation they allow themselves to engage in. The story goes like this: before the seven years of the Great Tribulation, a powerful world leader will emerge and deceive even the "elect". Empowered by the Beast, this mysterious person would propose a seven year peace plan, make a covenant with Israel, then break it.

The Temple

The Curse of Madness

The Resurrection of the Dead

For many centuries, believers have been taught that there will be a future, literal resurrection of the dead. Long dead cells scattered in oceans, urns and fecal matter (as well as the earth) would be reassembled and reanimated into a glorified body.

Will there be a future bodily resurrection of the dead? Does the Inspired Word of God teach such an idea? Questioning this idea has traditionally resulted in the removal of fellowship, and the labeling as "heretic".

Adam

Five hundred years ago, Pope Julius II had a big problem. The Catholic Church, which taught that Adam was the first human being, had neatly organized all races of human beings under Ham, Shem and Japheth. But when Christopher Columbus returned from the Americas with human beings found there, Pope Julius II had to figure out where these people came from. He concluded that the American Indians were descendants of the sinful Babylonians; some of which were destroyed in the Flood, and the rest were banished to the wilderness long ago.

This is the kind of silliness we engage in when we believe things which are not true - things which the Bible, history and nature do not teach.

Today, Creation Science teaches that Adam was the first human being on planet earth. Most mainstream Christian teachers and writers today impose this idea on the Body of Christ, and - like Pope Julius II - fabricate outrageous stories to facilitate their erroneous conclusions.

Are You Redeemed?

Provide Biblical proof that the redemptive promises given by God to the Covenant People were ever applicable to other peoples.

What does this "redemption" mean? Are you redeemed now? The answers may surprise you. Here is one of the most-quoted passages concerning Redemption in the Holy Word:

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Galatians 3:13-14)

Growing up in the Christian Church, I had the vague idea that redemption was related to salvation. I really didn't know anything more about it. If somebody asked me about it, I faked it. For over 30 years, it turns out that I didn't understand this fundamental part of my faith, because I didn't understand several other fundamental things: namely, the identity of Israel , their covenant relationship to their God, Yahweh, and the timing of the fulfillment of the redemptive promises.
